Ben and Maebel got busy and build some nesting boxes for our broody hens to hatch out some eggs. In the past(In Healdsburg), we’ve only had hens, so whenever one went broody the process was to remove the eggs from her daily until she finally realized that she wasn’t going to hatch anything out and gave up. It is so fun to be able to have a rooster and actually let a broody hen do her job! It’s magical and we’re looking forward to seeing what happens! So far, Ms. Appleberry has been a great mother! Check out how she attacks Ben for going anywhere close to her eggs!
Speaking of babies – our cat surprised us with two tiny kittens! Interesting, since we haven’t seen any cats around our property. We are pretty excited to have two sweet little kitties and Esme is being a great mother. ☺️
Another exciting adventure is our new little ducklings! We’ve planned on these little friends for a long time now. The truth is that with our land being unoccupied for so long and so very overgrown, the tick population got a bit intense. We’ve mitigated the situation a lot just by clearing a lot of brush, but ducks should help keep the population down and be a sweet little flock for our homestead.
In other news – we’re replacing the “tile” backsplash in our camper and trying to keep it nice for whatever the future may bring for it.
Thanks for coming along for our journey!
